Major Applewhite was the college football quarterback who played for the University of Texas at Austin from 1998-2001. a fan favored, the undersize Applewhite's tenure at Texwhen was noted two for his typically gritty heroics besides as his battle for swimming period by having a heralded blue chip Chris Simms, son of New York Giants legend Phil Simms. Fallowing graduation, Applewhite attended training camp with the New England Patriots, but retired before a run of the year.

Applewhite returned to Texas as a postgraduate supporter & served therein position until early 2005 when he wwhen offered the job as quarterbacks coach at Syracuse University by new head coach Greg Robinson, the previous defensive coordinator at Texas.
